I use these to collect water balloons that get out of hand when my kids are doing sensory activities. They are the perfect size and length for easy portability. Kids can still play and my house and yard aren't covered in orbiz. Not suitable for a younger child learning to use tweezers as the wooden part can be removed. , but a younger kid who knows how to pick up items should be able to use them. My 5 year old, who struggled with fine motor skills, used them with pom poms for a while before progressing to regular sized pom poms. .
