We bought these lights for our newly built gazebo. They work like clockwork - they charge during the day and turn on automatically at night. There is only one significant drawback, due to which it is impossible to turn them on and off - senior location. To control the light you must be able to point the remote control at the infrared sensor located on the BACK of the solar panel. It's just a terrible design as the average person will mount it on the roof facing up where the back of the solar panel is hidden. Needless to say, the remote control option is utterly useless once you climb the stairs to the roof to be just a foot away from the solar panel. If you can find a way to mount it so that the back of the solar panel is showing, get these lights. Otherwise look elsewhere.
