I've been sewing masks for family and friends throughout the pandemic and rubber bands are preferable to ties but I'm having a hard time finding the right length. Not all lengths fit all people and after several washes, that also plays a role. These solve the problem! I made the loops long (about 10 inches on each side) and then tightened them so each could adjust for their own comfort level. The 1/4" flat/braided elastic worked well (green mask), the 3/8" elastic was tougher but I did it (pink). The tool provided was ridiculous - the hook is too small to be useful. I gave up and just used a paper clip, but after about a dozen times it was hard to get hold of. So 4 stars because of the problem with the tool, but definitely recommended and at a good price.
