I really liked the extended length of this foam gun. I had the regular length (about 10-12 inches) and it worked fine. In the underground, the places where the ceiling beams rest on the foundation are difficult to access for sealing with assembly foam. A long-range foam gun makes this easier, but not entirely easy. Now any spray gun is superior to standalone foam cans because it can be controlled and works further than a foam can. However, the foam spray gun has its limitations. The biggest problem is that the foam can that powers the foam gun is mounted on top of the gun. When aiming at close range, the bench tends to get in the way, sometimes making it very difficult to get where you want to go. While this weapon's long length is helpful, it doesn't eliminate the inherent difficulty of keeping the tip on target. As far as foam guns go, I think they're a good buy. I would probably prefer to buy a 2 piece foam kit to insulate those creep areas. For basement work I would definitely recommend this long barrel gun and the regular length foam gun over any standalone foam cans sold at hardware stores.
