This line diameter is probably best for votives; However, I simply twisted the cord, dipped it in wax, and ran my thumb and forefinger along the cord to remove excess wax. Of course, it wasn't the easiest process, but it wasn't too difficult either. And now I have the perfect wick size for this candle, about 2.5 inches in diameter. I am very happy with how the wick burns (the photo shows exactly 3 hours in wax). I have other wicks made from natural materials that produce a lot more smoke and flame. I also love the fact that this product is made from only unbleached cotton which I have had a hard time finding.
