So I bought this drive as an upgrade for my HP Stream 14 laptop. Network boot and replace the missing Wi-Fi card with an external USB Wi-Fi adapter (instructions are online - Be very, very careful when working on your pup's exposed guts). I realized too late that this map is too big for it. So I bought an mSATA to USB 3.0 adapter and decided to use it as an external SSD. After connecting it to my laptop, I found that the device does not show up even though all the lights are on. With a little fiddling with Device Manager, I was able to easily attach a simple partition to it. The device is now working almost as intended. :) Although my original plan was a failure, it seems to work fine as an external USB drive. Also remember that neither this drive nor the adapter has an external enclosure. So either pack some kind of case for it or try to be very careful with it.
