Very good ride and price

Like the size and looks. You can see it in my office. So aesthetics were important. Obviously, installing and using it is not difficult. I've been using it as a Mac time machine for several months. It's great and I would recommend it based on my experience.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Product does not match seller's description

Very disappointed when connected actually 12.7TB not 14TB. A 14TB device must be at least slightly smaller than 14TB when attached. Most external devices are smaller than MB and not TB, the seller or manufacturer should state what you are actually getting. In this case, they should state that you're getting 12.7 TB and not 14 TB.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

I will not be buying another Novus 14TB

I ordered one 3 weeks ago, worked fine until it started clicking and had data transfer issues. i give it back In the meantime I have ordered another one while the first was still working and the second was dead on arrival. couldn't format it on any of my computers, mac or pc. Maybe it's a 14TB issue because I have a friend who doesn't have a problem with smaller models.

Pros
  • New

  • Reliability

Dead on Arrival - Mac Pro and Mac Mini

2021.08.19 MRE: I really wanted this to work! My files are scattered across 3 hard drives and I decided to merge them. My main computer is a Mac Pro (Late 2013) with USB 3 ports. I also use a Mac Mini (Late 2014) to watch Revain Prime etc. It also has USB 3.0 ports, which it should connect to an external drive. I didn't get anything either. Neither machine noticed the drive. No disk utility has done this. I used the cable that came with the drive on both Macs. It just didn't work. Return to the

Failed to use as backup drive on Mac

Time Machine didn't accept this for backup so I manually started moving files from my imac to the Novus device and the device accepted them. However, when I accepted Time Machine's request to clean the drive so it could be used for backups, the Novus engine immediately crashed. Despite repeated attempts, it won't "mount" on my imac. I will have to take it to a specialist and it will cost me money. I have since ordered a WD14TB unit which works perfectly. Unfortunately, time has passed on me and

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Weak instruction

Subject line speaks for itself. Hard drives work great. I have an internal 2TB SSD drive and just need an external drive for extra storage for the files that don't see much if anything and a bootable backup clone in case something happens. So I don't need an external SSD drive, and given the cost of a 4TB SSD, the Novus 4TB drive was a very affordable option and met my needs.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • No instructions

Robust construction. Works perfectly! The power plug takes up space.

Bought (2) of these cases to turn some "internal" hard drives into external ones. They have been working well for over a month now! The metal body is strong and very durable. The hard drive is attached to the case with several screws. The rubber buffer offers additional security and is also solidly built. To access the inside of the case you need to remove the rubber bumper. I was afraid this would stress the rubber and possibly break it, but it's very strong. Turning it on and off is a bitโ€ฆ

Excellent disc but slightly damaged in transit.

I like these wheels for the speed. I'm a content editor and moving 100GB files is a chore with slower drives. I have a 12TB model with no issues so I ordered a 6TB model. When I received the package I found that it was lost. I thought maybe it was just the outer packaging but it also damaged the inner packaging of the product. When I started using the drive, it made a loud bang and the drive's temperature fluctuated around 53ยฐC. Just below the maximum operating temperature of 55ยฐC. I opened the

  • 7200 rpm enterprise-class drive offers transfer speeds of up to 250 MB/s.
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than other models.

Helped quiet a noisy hard drive!

I have a new X300 Toshiba 8GB hard drive. I slipped it into a plastic Orico case without tools and found it was unnecessarily loud. It really rattled in that plastic. But it's for the Raspberry Pi NAS, which I'll put in a closet or somewhere else to not hear. Also, I didn't feel particularly confident that this drive hadn't crashed at some point in Orico's plain plastic case, which does the job but has no real drop protection, not even internal rubber mounts. . I ordered this Novus, it's theโ€ฆ
