Review on πŸ’Ύ Enhanced Storage and Backup: WD My Book 4TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive for Efficient File Management by Tim Wilson

Good drive but bulky and slow

For the most part this is a pretty good hard drive and I enjoyed having it as extra storage on my computer. I haven't even filled it in even though it has a lot of videos. However, I have two problems. Firstly, this hard drive is a bit large even for 3TB. I understand it's a full size one that plugs into the wall, but they could make the case much smaller and less bulky. It's more of an aesthetic thing and I still have a lot of room for that. My other complaint, which is even more annoying, is that it takes forever to load content from it. I have two Pass disks, 1 and 2 terabytes, and they load almost instantly. However, this drive takes 30 seconds to a minute, sometimes longer, to retrieve my data every time I open it on my computer. It makes it worse because it happens every time. What's even more frustrating is watching a video on it and then having to pause it for a period of say 10+ minutes. Every time I go back there I have to either restart the disc or wait a minute or so for the video to load again after pausing it again. Recently I decided to re-enable the drive in Windows Explorer. The funny thing is that this happens even if the drive is already open in File Explorer. It shouldn't take that long for my data to load! If you don't mind the inconveniences I've pointed out, then this might be a good drive for you, packed with plenty of space, but if you want quick access to your data, find a better drive or go for it a pass or two.
