Long cable and it works!
15ft cable as shown. I want the holes you hang the item in to be centered, but that doesn't matter. I'm not an electrician, so it could be the nature of electricity: the plug closest to the switch doesn't supply as much power as those farther away. My computer told me it didn't have enough juice. My docking station was not charging my laptop and monitors. However, when I swapped the plug for one of the ones farther from the switch, everything went like clockwork.
