Short lifespan - very disappointing

Very disappointed with the short lifespan of this unit. It worked fine for 18 months, but the exhaust fan was apparently made of plastic and all the fan blades fell off after hot air was exhausted, just six months after the warranty expired, rendering the unit unusable. This picture shows broken fan blades. sits at the bottom of the exhaust duct. After reading other reviews here it is obvious that Tripp-Lite does not sell replacement parts for this device.

No source parts

Used one of these, an older version that didn't have the plastic fan issues that the new ones have. It worked for almost 3 years before the control panel died. There's no reason a chipboard should die with as little functionality as it is. There are no spare parts. Order the second one that arrived on 07/12/2017. The bottom fan exploded. I called Triplite - but tech support is closed for a meeting. Will update when I know more.

Great product when it works

This product is slightly more expensive than most portable AC units. I bought it on purpose because Tripplite is a tech brand and I needed it for a server room. Presumably he upgraded the internal components to work 24/7. The first block did not dehumidify the air like a conventional air conditioner, did not work as a dehumidifier. Because of this, it spewed humid air into the room and was useless. Tripplite sent a replacement after a quick diagnosis. The replacement wouldn't even turn on! I…

I bought the second

The first lasted about 6 years without additional cooling in a single rackmount server closet with a couple of switches, a couple of servers, a couple of storage units and a bunch of UPSs. We're in the Midwest so it's hardly ever used except as a Fall/Winter/Early Spring fan. Keeps the room comfortable and cool on the hottest days. I believe the first one was killed by lightning as we lost a lot of other equipment in the building that same night. All things considered, I can't find anything…

100% best server room solution!

This was purchased to replace our old roof air conditioner for our server room in the office. We downsized many of our services and hosted them in the cloud, and we didn't need an expensive $17,000+ replacement. Our server room is only 8ft x 10ft so a small 1 ton AC unit was fine. HVAC offered us $5,000 to install this particular device. So we bought Revain ourselves and paid another HVAC installation company less than $300 for a proper install. But I'm sure we could do it ourselves. Youtube…

I would not recommend this product for long term cooling.

It cooled my small server room. In the beginning (first 6 months only) it kept the temp at 74. I have our main AC valve and return in the room. I bought the unit on 10/27/15 and it worked fine for 16 months then it stopped blowing cold air and actually increased the temperature in our room if left on. I leave our thermostat on 24 hours a day in this room. For us, Tripplite was really a fallback and we hoped it would drop the temperature just a few degrees more than in the office and keep the…

Our third SRCOOL12K failed after 13 months of use. Only hot air blows. I submitted a support ticket in hopes that something can/will be done and will update this review with the results. I bought our first SRCOOL12K in August 2011 to cool a small (100 sq ft) cabinet housing two small servers. I bought it primarily because it doesn't require draining of water - it evaporates on its own. Great feature and it works great. This unit stopped cooling in September 2014. After 3 years (technically 37…

Great at first, but bad over time.

I run like a champion in my server room! Can not be switched off, runs stable, quite quiet. A dehumidifier setting is great when the server room gets too stuffy. Airflow, so we opened the back of the cabinet to let the heat out. Running the fan all the time to get the air flowing has worked for me. I thought maybe he was tired of working 24/7 and scheduled another session so I could rotate back and forth. A few weeks ago it stopped working without my knowledge because Tripplite didn't update…

Broken. Serviced and repaired. Here are my tips.

By all accounts this machine is short lived. I have to agree that they all seem to fail after about 14 months, right after the warranty expired. Having previous experience in construction and HVAC in particular, I decided to take this unit apart and find out what happened. Here is my experience and how we extended the life of this unit. After about 14 months of use, the device started to freeze. This is usually due to dirty filters or a low battery. Since we had it in the server room, the…
