I was looking for a can opener after finally breaking my old handle. I came across them as an alternative to hand and double ended pliers. I don't have enough counter space anyway, so I gave away this handy one-touch automatic can opener. Okay, I'll admit that after the first 4 or 5 cans I was ready to throw it in the trash and write it off as an experience. If you buy this product, it has a learning curve, please be patient. I found this !> Mount it on the can, slide it to the right where it stops at the edge of the can, that's a good start. 2> Press the button and run it, run it, press it or hit it if it seems to stall, then run it until it turns off. 3> If you try to turn it off once the lid is cut off, you will cause problems for yourself. It turns off automatically, after the cover is cut, the blade retracts to its original position. 4> It takes a lot of fooling around and twisting the handle to get the blade back to its original position if you stop it before it disengages or if the blade won't retract for some other reason. In general, I like it very much, my adult children are delighted. I think it's worth the price. PS I opened about 3 dozen cans with a set of batteries, but I can say that they will soon have to be changed.
