I opened the packaging of these can openers to use one at work and one at home. I found them to work well but didn't use either more than 4 or 5 times. I recently tried to open a can and the opener would not stop the motion/motor opening the can. I followed the instructions to stop it, but at this point the liquid from the contents of the jar leaked into the opener. I tried to dry the can opener as quickly as possible. It did not work. Update: After 5 months and about 50 cans the black one lost the turning wheel. Replaced twice 2 AA batteries. Luckily there are two packs. So I put the batteries in red and finally opened the last 2 of 10. I'm glad I had a fallback. Order another set. Some banks are more difficult than others, but all open when a second bypass is required. Still 5 🌟. The manual opener becomes too difficult to use with age. UPDATE***** After writing this review I took it upon myself to find out why these can openers don't work. After disassembly I found that all the gears are there. Then I manually shifted the gears and reassembled them. Since then I've used it about 10 times with no problems. I have no idea why they failed initially, but they work pretty well now. They work great but only if you use high current batteries. First, I installed inexpensive, low-drain batteries, which you can buy eight for a dollar. It ran about an inch from the can and then stopped like so many other bad reviews.
