My boyfriend got me one of these can openers for Christmas a few years ago and I love it! In fact, I bought another one when mine started acting weird (of course it's working great again now). PROS: 1. I love that the handy can opener fits in a drawer instead of taking up valuable counter space. I understand that some can openers can be installed under the closet, but landlords don't really like that. No more trying to hold large cans under a can opener. Simply place the jar on the counter and open the lid with a bottle opener. Watch the can opener twist around the can until it stops. This is great if you have weak hands and are easy to entertain (like me).3. NiMh batteries work in it. CONS: 1. It should be more secure than traditional can openers as it doesn't leave jagged edges on the lid. Well, this can be EVEN more dangerous, by the way, because it actually removes the entire top rim of the can. Not only does this make the entire edge of the glass razor sharp, it also makes the glass very unstable. This is important to consider if you have a big ol' can of tomatoes or anything else that you need to pour into a pot or container.2. If the can is bent, the handy can opener may not work or just cut off the non-bent part. Also, I had a few cans that this little guy just couldn't open for reasons unknown to me. Or it may need to be run again to trim properly. I'm giving 4 stars because the Handy Can Opener isn't perfect (but what?).
