They work great but only if you use high current batteries. First, I installed inexpensive, low-drain batteries, which you can buy eight for a dollar. It ran about an inch from the can and then stopped like so many other bad reviews. I figured it must be the cheap batteries so I bought Panasonic Super Heavy Duty Power Carbon Zinc batteries and got the same result. Hmmmm... batteries? I looked at the back of the 4-pack container and it said "For use in low-power devices" in small print. Why wasn't it written on the front of the package where I would most likely see it? The name "Super Heavy Duty Power" printed in large letters on the front panel definitely suggests high amperage, right? Next I buy Energizer 2024 max alkaline batteries that don't even say; Super, Heavy, Duty, Power or High Current - it works GREAT! I believe that the more expensive lithium batteries could be an even better choice. I haven't tried lithium batteries yet. So, looking at all the other reviews, it seems that many have thrown away perfectly good devices. I bought four devices and they all work perfectly. Does the manufacturer say anything about the batteries used? If it was on the packaging, I didn't see it. I think this information is printed in big red words and it's even better to sell these devices with the right batteries.
