Review on πŸ”‹ AquaTech Hydro-Sponge Filter by Todd Winter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm glad I switched to this sponge!

This 125g sponge works great in my 55g tank. Superfiltration is the best way! For reference, this sponge is about the size of a large toilet paper roll. It takes a day or two to remain submerged to the bottom of the tank after water has been pushed in and the brick left on it overnight. It works great to remove sand particles from the water when filling the tank. I've since switched to gravel, but setting sand down and using it as a buffer when I add water to the tank while filling has helped me a lot. The sponge tends to lose its shape after being squeezed out of the tank in the used water a few times during a more thorough cleaning. I do this about once a month when things get too messy. It keeps most of its shape. Add an air stone to the core of the sponge to get rid of large/noisy bubbles. As long as I'm happy with it! I've bought different sizes from the same company and they all work well. I used to use internal filters and kept getting detritus worms. 🀒 Nothing like that with this sponge! I'm so glad I made the switch! Bonus = This is an additional place for small fish to hide. Plecos and snails also like to eat it! πŸ˜‹
