These are a cheap way to provide some localized illumination without having to mess around with power supplies or wiring. As far as value for the dollar goes, they're great, and my rating reflects that. They do what I wanted them to for a very cheap price.There are limits and caveats and I'll go over them here.1st: They don't seem to be very consistent in exactly how far the motion sensor detects motion. I've got one on each side of my back gate, and the left one always comes on well after the one mounted on the right---usually 2 or 3 steps after. Between the 4 I've got, one of them seems to not kick on until I'm about 4-5' away, two of them go on when I'm around 10-12' away and another seems to turn on when I'm within about 25'. That makes it hard to really know where the best placement is. All of these are mounted at the same height (6' high).2nd: These aren't flood lights or anything. That isn't a knock on them, they're not meant to be, but don't buy them expecting a light or two to cover the whole yard. I'd say I get a good 2-3, maybe 3.5 yards of usable light out in front of each light. Which is actually more than I expected and pretty nice.We mounted the first set along the back fence and along one side fence to provide extra illumination when taking out the garbage. I plan to buy another set and mount 2 of them outside the back fence in the alley to light the path to the dumpster. They're cheap enough that if they get vandalized or stolen it's no great loss, and they're more than enough light for that sort of use. A very cost effective, easy way to help light up a small area.
