Review on 🎢 IK Multimedia iKlip 3: The Ultimate Tablet Mount for Microphone and Music Stands by David Underberg

Expensive and needs some adjustment but it's ok

Overall it's a good design and I won't be returning it. But I have several problems with this product. Pros: The mic stand clip fits most mic stand thickness. Some big sound companies are opting for big, thick and heavy stands. This works for these as well as the smaller coasters that most of us use. Ball head design fits most iPads well. However, larger pads don't work as well because the ball joint isn't strong enough. I might suggest you earn some extra money with the "Heavy Duty" version. Or just be cool and make this one more powerful for the same price. Cons: - Expensive. I understand that some design work was done to get it where it is now, but it's quite an expensive piece of plastic. I think the value for money speaks a little for the company and not for the consumer. In my opinion, as a musician who has played hundreds if not thousands of gigs with one of them, there is a design issue. Like I said, ball and jack is a good idea. But to disassemble the tablet holder into two small transportable parts, you have to remove the ball tablet clamp from the stand clamp, i.e. the socket (see picture). The jack is in two parts, one half is part of the mic stand clamp and the other half is a small piece that detaches when you separate the tablet clamp from the mic clamp. This detail is important because it makes up half of the outlet. To be clear, YOU CANNOT LOSE THIS PART! It's also a lightweight piece of black plastic. So if you drop that little piece of plastic during disassembly or (worse) installation, as the industry term would suggest, you're screwed. It seems to me that this can be attached to the base of the small piece with a hinge, or by just adding a few threads so you don't have to unscrew it all the way to get the ball out. Hope that helps. I don't think this is a bad product. There's just room to grow.

Pros
  • Extendable arms can hold all popular tablets from 7" to 12.1" with or without a case
Cons
  • Minor issues
