Review on HFP-397-U Fuel Pump with Strainer Replacement for Kawasaki Ninja 650R EX650/Versys 650 KLE650 EFI (2006-2014) - Upgraded Replaces OEM 49040-0026 by Patrick Ross

I was having terrible fuel delivery problems on my bike. It doesn't start, then it starts, but the speed is no more than 3k under load. It looked and felt like a fuel delivery issue. I bought this kit and proceeded to install it. The original old Keihin pump was covered in surface rust and its "toe" filter was 3/4 full of solids! This bike has almost 70,000 miles on it and I think every mile of that fuel has been sucked through that filter. This pump kit was a direct replacement in every way. The pump is housed in a plastic pump housing and wired like the factory. Along with it came the proper "socks" filter (although you'll have to choose from quite a few different ones). I put everything back together, then cycled the ignition on and off a few times to bleed the fuel system. Then I pressed the starter button and it started right away. Now the bike runs and drives exactly as it should. This is the perfect replacement.
