Review on GeoSafari Learning: Exploring the World with Educational Insights by Justin Steele

An excellent learning tool. Starts great and can be improved from here.

I have invested in the Leapfrog Leapreader which uses special books and an interactive pen to read books to my baby. I was very happy with it and looked for 3D objects that support the same concept. Leapfrog let me down on that front, but then I found this product that follows the same principles. I have to say it works very well. Funny graphics on a two-axis globe with bright colors are very popular with children. My LO was very excited to try it and using the leapreader was very easy to get used to. The globe is larger than expected but very light and my 5 year old can easily move it around if needed. There are multiple modes for information, and the stylus is adequately responsive. A few special features: The pen must be absolutely perpendicular to the plane touched in order to register the touch. A bigger hole could have fixed this, but this issue may not be fixed until future versions. Again, this problem is overcome with a little practice. Another special feature is that the touch zones are large for areas that are not used very often. India, for example, interests me, but even though I touch on different areas, it still gives me the same information. I understand that most users will like details about the US (which are definitely very detailed), so that's just nice because I understand that it's extremely difficult to have too much detailed information about each country. I would like to see this improvement in future versions. In addition, it is a very fun and educational toy that will not disappoint you.
