My kit contains three rings/seals in three different hardnesses/sizes: - White - most flexible - Black - hardest - Blue is between white and black in terms of flexibility . I noticed this mainly when testing three, having tried one of them (black) for the first time, and I had to switch to a Plan B diet because my pot wasn't putting pressure on it. When I used black the pot didn't build pressure because I found it just wouldn't stay in place and so my Instant Pot was never pressured. The next day I tested all three rings individually with just water in a pot. The white and blue were the easiest to put on the lid and the pressure in the pot was normal. I installed the black ring correctly by preheating the ring with hot water. So all three work fine, but the black ring needs extra heat to make it more flexible. If I had just removed the black ring, rinsed and heated the first time I used it, I might have been able to force the pan to build pressure.
