Didn't quite fit.
When mounted on a driveshaft, the pinion faces are very loose against the faces on the shaft. I had to cut some spacers out of thin sheet of plastic and superglue them to the inside of the gear. After that, the gear is tight against the shaft. The drive splines meshed perfectly with the helical gear and my college friend in his seventies was reborn.
