Good latch alternative to avoid shiny chrome on boats

As others have written in reviews. The hardware included doesn't allow for 1/2" thick plywood, you'll need longer hardware. The body and handle appear to be good plastic that can take some abuse, but the locking portion is likely to break first if not handled with care. DO NOT LATCH the latch.. If you want them to last longer, use common sense. It's plastic. Application: I installed it on 1/2" plywood with carpeting and with some trimming I got the latch to go with it brought to work 3/4" with carpet (not perfect but works)
