I bought this glass because I needed a fast aperture for shooting video, in particular on a steadicam and relatively inexpensive for the first time. Therefore, 16-35 has disappeared for now. 17-40 is a bit dark, and he is not very friendly with the second dime, judging by the reviews, so my choice fell on the subject. Again, after reading the reviews, I was already mentally prepared for a terrible distortion, and right after the purchase I corrected the scale and put a dandelion. But on my copy, surprisingly, infinity turned out to be where it should be, and I got used to focusing in a couple of hours, even through the viewfinder. The most difficult thing is to focus on objects that are closer than one meter - about 70% of the ring travel is allocated for these distances. And how often do you have to shoot wide so close? As for the distortion, I notice it mainly on the horizontal lines at the top and bottom edges of the frame, and even that is not significant. So I am completely satisfied with the subject and strongly recommend it. For such money, he simply has no analogues.
