These are great snow pants and you can tell the designers did a great job! The trousers have a wide cut so that base layers can also be worn underneath. There are Velcro straps at the waist that tighten the belt a bit. My 4 year old wears pants from 4t to 5t and size xxs fits him well but is not too big. The leg cuffs are reinforced so the pant won't rip there if it's a bit longer, and the pant has a Columbia Outgrown feature that allows you to increase the leg length as your child grows. If my little one doesn't have a major growth spurt, I can well imagine him wearing these pants again next season. He was skiing in the snow
