I have had one of my Xbox 360 models for years and have never had to change the batteries. I assume they will be similar. It has more indicator lights than the 360. This shows which controller is charging, as well as red when it's charging and green when it's fully charged. Then after a while they all go out, so the display is not constantly lit. Their advantage is that they do not use a USB port for charging. Just place them on the stand and they'll charge the battery directly without draining the USB port. I'm sure USB connectors are pretty strong, but if they get overused and break, you'll at least have to break out the soldering iron and maybe buy a new connector. In this case, the controller does not participate in billing at all. The batteries have contacts and the kit includes new battery covers with connector cutouts. The only thing I can't fault is that it needs to be placed there more carefully than the 360. To do that you can just throw it straight in and it will charge. It has a ridge which I think is meant to keep the controller in close contact with the charging pins. As such, more attention is required to ensure it is properly seated and charging in the slot. The bottom of the Xbox One controller is much flatter than the Xbox 360, so I think it must have a lip to match the pins.
