I need reliable WiFi in my garden. I looked at all types of extenders and did a lot of research. I chose this because, unlike plug-in extenders, there is no universal protocol that will cut your WiFi speed in half (search). I give 5 stars because it works very well if you ignore the instructions. The instructions require you to download some software in order for it to work. The software needs holes all over your router. The software will not "talk to the DB server" even if the holes are open. Customer support is only available on normal business days, during normal business hours when you are at work, away from home when you have hours to play with their non-functional software. The software must be constantly updated to the latest version. The program needs a computer that's always on to run (that's what it sounds like). OR. You can simply find this uniquely identified device in your list of LAN devices on your current router, assign it a static IP address (or dynamic private fixed IP address), navigate to that IP address, log in as an administrator, it change it to something secure, then give the lower and upper wifi bands the same username and password as your current wifi router and you're done! I downloaded a free app that allows you to see the strength of your Wi-Fi and when I walk into my garden when the signal drops to zero it picks up that device's signal perfectly and brings me back to 100 percent. However, when you go back inside it sticks to it too much and doesn't pick up a signal indoors unless I toggle the wifi on and off on my phone, but it lasts a few seconds.
