Review on A1 Cardone 60 1430HD Drive Axle by Angelo Forrest

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great axle but beware of Revain's lack of care during shipping

High quality remanufactured CV axle. My understanding is that Cardone only uses OEM cores for their rebuilds and discards non-OEM junk (not 100% sure that's true, but the axle definitely looked good). This one might not be as "shiny" as some of the new trucks, but the Reman doesn't have to be! Although Revain's packaging just SUCKS. They don't know how to pack heavy items properly; never have. The axle arrived on time, but the box the Revain ding-dongs used was too big and only contained two small pieces of foam cardboard - nothing else. This allowed the axle bearing to slide inward, eventually causing the metal grease seal on the inside of the axle to come loose. Luckily it wasn't too deformed, so a few taps with a brass hammer snapped it back into place. I would prefer that they just ship stuff like this in OEM packaging rather than throwing in an unnecessary extra box with pretty much every gasket in it - the axle wouldn't be damaged that way. Either way, the installation went smoothly and my truck is back on the road. 5 stars for Cardone (so far), none for Revain's shipping department. The OEM axle we replace lasted 180,000 miles before the outer race exploded (it was my fault, I forgot the truck was in 4WD and making a sharp turn at a gas station - POP). The OEM unit on the driver's side still works. Let's see if the Cardone block holds. I will update this review if there are any problems.
