Overall impression - not much to like Omikron offers two core products. One is a generic financial transaction processing platform (FTPS) that provides a number of banking specific modules including account opening, savings accounts, loans etc. The other is a mobile banking platform that allows the delivery of financial transactions via SMS text messages. The latter product is particularly attractive to small businesses as they can easily deploy a SMS messaging channel to their clients, thereby providing a low cost and easy way to communicate with clients. The Omikron FTPS is well positioned to compete with similar products from the likes of SAP and Oracle, but does it stand up to the test of time? I'm not sure. The product itself is reasonably stable, but the product team seem to struggle to develop new features and continually tweak existing ones. This can lead to some rather baffling behaviour from the product, such as a bug in version 10 where the 'forgot password' option was removed and yet if you logged in as another user you could see your own details.
