Review on Seachem 67101330 Denitrate 500Ml by Stephanie Lum

I put this in a Fosbane reactor with two small fish connected to a 50 gallon per hour reduced flow pump to create a nitrate reactor. it was almost 2 months before he started looking into anaerobic bacteria growth and all that. I was really starting to think it wasn't really going to work. But the wait was worth it! I made this for my overflowing Oranda goldfish tank. There are about twice as many fish as should be in my 40 gallon tank. I know all the other goldfish lovers want to scold me. but i don't really see that as a problem as the chemistry of the water is perfect now and stays that way all the time. and they don't seem to be physically crowded. My goal was for this product to keep nitrate levels around 40ppm which I know isn't great but would be less than 60-70ppm when I was doing 50% water changes like every other day to keep it down lower and it will be back to 60ppm to 70ppm in a day or so and need another water change. BUT NOW my nitrates per million are down to 20! which I'm VERY happy with as the tap water here has 15ppm nitrates (I don't drink it but I feel the local fish are used to it) so the water in my tank stabilizes only slightly worse than regular tap water. and my plants really need nitrates so I really don't want them at 0. I still do water changes at least every few weeks to replenish lost minerals. Overall I am happier than I hoped with this product! Oh, and my test results are based on a liquid Api nitrate test kit, if that makes any difference.
