I think filter selection is better based on your water pressure. Since my water comes from a well, I'm around 30-50 psi. I have a charcoal filter on the sink, a 50 micron filter for the whole house, and two 50 micron filters at the exit of the fountain. I also use table charcoal and an alkaline filter. The 50 micron filter is suitable for pressures of 30-50 psi. Two-person household and large garden. I've tried small micron filters but I'm losing too much pressure. Also note that I change them every month but pressure wash and reuse a second time.
