Review on Bosch Parts 2610938414 Adapter Plate by Mike Roe

I bought this insert after reading many reviews. The main advantage of this insert was that it is made of aluminum so it stays flat and does not deform under the weight of the router. I have yet to route and install it on the router table due to the many issues I am having with this deployment. Good: 1) Made of aluminum that won't warp or crack due to the router's weight; very brave. 2) Pre-drilled for my Bosch router and many other routers. 3) The rulers are embossed on the board which helps in aligning the fence. I'm concerned that the edge of the wood might get caught in one of the holes, especially when making small pieces. 2) Very rough surface. 3) Does not come with the required ring kit. I ordered a set of Bosch rings 2610915125 separately. 4) The Bosch rings I received do not sit flush with the top of the adapter plate. I measured one and it was 1/32" (about 0.03") on one side and slightly smaller on the other side. The wood can sink in at the beginning of the section, especially when milling small parts, and get caught when leaving the ring zone. The resulting route shows a noticeable drop of 1/32 inch. I'm considering laying with mylar tape, making my own rings, or looking for a new stake.
