I bought some of these simple remote controls for school use to give teachers a simple and inexpensive interface. I had some difficulty programming the buttons even after following the instructions (apparently translated) in the email. They should work for most popular IR controlled devices, except air conditioners as they usually have a more complicated communication process). After a lot of trying, I've finally found a sequence that seems to work (most of the time). Before we start there are three blinking patterns to be aware of and I think they mean the following: Slow, regular blinking = programming mode. or receive an order. Fast normal flashing = command received. 4 short and 1 long flashes (4 and 1) = Command not understood. Try again. Simultaneously briefly pressing the "Power" and "CH ^ (up)" buttons on the learning remote control exits the programming mode. Step 1. Place the source and learning remotes so the transmitters face each other. "Power" and "CH ^ (up)" of the learning remote simultaneously for about 4 seconds. When the LED starts flashing continuously, indicating the remote is in learning mode, release these buttons. Step 3. Within the next 10 seconds, quickly press the button on the learning remote that you want to program. Step 4. Press and hold the desired command button on the original remote for at least two seconds. When a command is received, the learning remote's LED should flash slowly and regularly. When the blinking pattern changes to a faster normal pattern, the command has been received and you can release the original remote button. Repeat steps 3 and 4 once. (If you notice patterns 4 and 1 blinking when you get a command, repeat the process again.) Step 5. Before the LED on the learning remote stops blinking faster and more regularly, press the red On button shortly /Off button and the CH (down) buttons. simultaneously. The LED should be solid for a few seconds. Let them go off before checking the programmed key. If the device does not respond to the command, repeat the programming process. Repeat for each button. Perhaps there is a slightly more simplified programming procedure, but this worked for me.
