My old remote control is broken and won't lock/unlock the doors. My husband found a video on You Tube that said he might have gotten dirty. Following the instructions, he opened it up and cleaned it with computer-controlled compressed air. Picked it up again and everything works. I still needed a new case so I ordered one and my husband slipped the guts into my new case. IT WORKS GREAT! The ignition is stuck and I have to push the buttons harder, but hey, do you have any idea what Mercedes wants for a new key fob? My old remote control was 16 years old so it was worn out from use. This was a great decision for me.
