Review on 🥑 PROfreshionals Deluxe Avocado Slicer Tool: Effortlessly Pit, Slice, Scoop, Cube, or Dice Your Avocados, Green by Courtney Ellis

I love the concept and overall design of the green PROfreshionals 72066, a luxury multi-purpose avocado slicer. However, when the rubber hits the streets, this kitchen tool doesn't live up to its potential. The compact snap-on design looks cool on the product card and fits nicely in my utility box, but ends up being unnecessary. I live in South Florida and preparing avocados is almost a weekly chore. Our family eats them whole—sliced, pureed (for guac), and even grilled. Locally, there's a variety known as a Florida avocado (or SlimCado because it has about 35% fewer calories and half the fat of a regular avocado). It is also slightly larger than the more common Haas avocado from California. While PROfreshionals 72066 is almost perfect for Haas, it's not designed to work with large fruit like SlimCado (photo). The loop handle is too small to secure the core and the cutting ring is too narrow to properly separate the meat from the skin. The dicing tool cuts the flesh into strips and cubes, but the SlimCado's softer "flesh" is easier to shred. While this works much better when you're cooking smaller Haas avocados with firmer innards, it's tricky to get right. It's too easy to cut into the skin when using the loop removal tool, or if you're not aggressive enough you'll leave something on the skin. At least the "blades" and shovel aren't sharp, so you probably won't hurt yourself using them. Bottom line, this is a tool that you most likely won't need. To me it's more of a mess in a box than anything else. I can do anything to cook an avocado with a sharp chef's knife (you'll still need it to cut it apart), a soup spoon, and a fork. I suppose someone who cooks an avocado every once in a while might find it a handy all-in-one or something to take with you on trips, but if you're an experienced guacamole maker, these are the basic cooking supplies great task - and easier. . court
