Review on 🎢 Compact and Portable CD Player - Philips AX5210: Your Ultimate Music Companion by Ashutosh Takumatla

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I hate to say it but.

First of all, I'm a fan of Philips electronics. I had a Philips CD player for 3 years (before it was stolen) which gave me absolutely no problems, invariably played CDs perfectly and gave me great sound and anti-skip protection. In fact, it was the quality of this CD player (which unfortunately is no longer made) that convinced me to buy this one. That. Perhaps the biggest problem with this is the anti-skip protection, which is very poor, especially at the beginning of the songs. I could stand perfectly still, hold the turntable upright in my hand, and it would STILL miss! I couldn't handle it. Another major issue (already mentioned by a reviewer before me) is that it eats LIVE batteries. You can use either two AA batteries or two AAA batteries, but if you go with the AAA option, be prepared to change batteries every five hours (probably the BEST). The AA version isn't much better; After about half an hour of playback, the battery indicator has already changed from 3/3 to 2/3. The sound isn't that good either. You only get one notch of bass boost, and while I think that sounds okay, it doesn't even compare to the sound quality you get through the Sony Walkman. So what's the beauty? Well, after only using this thing for a month, it suddenly stopped reading discs. So; it just stopped. I've tried everything: change CDs, change batteries. EVERYONE. As I write this review I will be checking the warranty information to see if I can get a refund for this piece of junk. I am extremely disappointed. What happened to Philips? Why did they take such a big step backwards with this model? Yes; I recommend anyone and everyone to choose the Sony Walkman over this one. It's comparable in price and performs at a level that simply outshines this poor little thing. I hate lashing out like that, but it's the absolute truth. When you buy this item. BEWARE.
