These needles are very handy for burying the thread ends after machine quilting and I always have a pack with me. Very short ends (one inch) that cannot be easily threaded through a regular needle can be loaded into the senche with tweezers if necessary. Sometimes the open eyelet gets stuck in the fabric thread and needs to be broken to remove it (using needle-nosed pliers can easily break the eyelet). I wouldn't recommend it for hand sewing. For those with vision problems, an embroidery needle might be just the ticket as it has larger ears and is sharper than sench needles. I would prefer the option to buy a one size pack of needles. One star deducted for this reason and the need to break mostly small needles.
