I don't know why other reviewers are struggling with this but I'm new to nail stamping and I love this stamp. Firstly, I don't know how people use opaque stamps and put the drawing in the right place. The great thing is that not only is it transparent but you can slide the back out so you can just see the jelly part of the stamp and place your image exactly where you want. I didn't find I had to press very hard with this one to get a good image, I press about as hard as I do with my other stamps. I have at least 4 other stamps and this is by far the best. Not only because you can easily place your stamp on it, but the jelly part itself conveys clear images without distorting them. It's very sticky and firmer than my other stamps, but I haven't found that I need to use it any differently than the softer stamps. I can press harder when stamping my nail, but not too hard. I suppose you might need this if you have really curved nails and need to apply the image to the edges of the nail all the way to the stamp because the hardness makes it less suited to your nail than a softer one, but I would prefer it need to press a little harder to do this than ruin the stamp because too much pressure will distort or blur the image because the stamp is so soft.
