As with the others the base (albeit removable) should be transparent, mine looks used like it has been cleaned with acetone right in the center where it matters and now it is frozen and nothing can be seen through it , eventually ruining the transparent base . The die is generally so-so, but that clear passage is important to see where you're stamping and the extra annoying steps of removing the base should be avoided. I love this stamp. It was easy to use and its larger size allowed for a larger design than my other small stamp as shown in the last picture. Would buy this again.

Absolutely the best clear stamp I have (I even prefer it to my UberChic), there is no distortion when looking through it (when you slide out the bottom cover)! There's a learning curve to using a clear stamp, and I still don't get a clean grip every time (some polishes work better than others), but it's greatly improved my alignment issues!

I don't know why other reviewers are struggling with this but I'm new to nail stamping and I love this stamp. Firstly, I don't know how people use opaque stamps and put the drawing in the right place. The great thing is that not only is it transparent but you can slide the back out so you can just see the jelly part of the stamp and place your image exactly where you want. After seeing a few videos of this stamp in action I bought the basic version. He arrived today. I was very happy because I wanted to get my nails done. However, I opened the package and it contained only one stamp. There was no scraper in the "kit". Needless to say I was unhappy. But then I took the stamp apart to see the "hd" part.
