Review on Omnipure K2553 JJ Nitrate Water Filter by Michelle Bonner

I have well water and needed to change the nitrate filter around the house so in the meantime I bought this spot nitrate filter for our fridge. I connected it directly to the fridge. I had to buy additional equipment to make everything work. My refrigerator is 5/16" OD and the filter takes a 1/4" OD. I used a 1/4" x 5/16" plug-in connection and everything was fine. Important: Be sure to rinse the filter before connecting it to the refrigerator's water supply. I poured a few gallons into a 5 gallon bucket before the final mix. I then drained a few more liters of water from the fridge before checking the nitrate levels. The nitrates before the filter were around 60-70 ppm. The first test after installation showed around 20ppm. I flushed the water out of the fridge a bit more and it dropped to almost 15ppm. The next day I checked again and it was somewhere between 5-10ppm. Today, almost a week later, it is less than 5ppm, close to the color of 0ppm. FYI, I use my saltwater nitrate test kit. This product works, is easy to install and is great value for money. Let's see how long this lasts. I plan to test the water weekly and will probably replace it with another one, if it's over 10ppm or better just change the nitrate filter throughout the house. But if you're on a tight budget, this works really well.
