I have well water and needed to change the nitrate filter around the house so in the meantime I bought this spot nitrate filter for our fridge. I connected it directly to the fridge. I had to buy additional equipment to make everything work. My refrigerator is 5/16" OD and the filter takes a 1/4" OD. I used a 1/4" x 5/16" plug-in connection and everything was fine.
