This is a good kettle and the whistle works great. It looks great with the other kitchen appliances. The handle clearly doesn't feel cold when heating the water, but it doesn't burn your hand either. Can't expect it to feel cool after sitting in a gas range over an open fire, that would be crazy, so the handle temp is perfectly normal and acceptable. The spout can eject hot water when opened quickly, but it is also easy to lightly press the button on the handle to avoid splashing. The inside of my kettle got a bit dirty after a month of use, but we weren't the best at drying after each use either, so I guess that's to be expected.
