The bushing is installed correctly in the transfer case linkage but the bushing does not seat when installed in the shifter. Once removed, the bushing went into the floor of the truck. So the best option is to make yourself an adjustable bar, connecting it with an aluminum turnbuckle and a set of washers and bolts. The parts are about $14 at the hardware store, and the shifting is more reliable and never wears out like rubber bushings.
