Review on ARRIS Motorola SURFboard SB5101U DOCSIS by Randy Montiel

Cheap and reliable modem

Pros-1. Easy Installation and Setup Installing this modem is very easy. You plug it into a power source and connect an ethernet cable to your computer and a coax cable from your ISP. It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes. Then you need to call your ISP and they will ask you for the serial number of the device. Once you deploy it, they do the rest for you. In my case it was a no-brainer. I got up and ran for 10 minutes. No particular problems encountered.2. Maintains a Reliable Connection I've had several modems in the past that had unreliable connections. This one is pretty stable. The old one I have is over 3 years old and works like a charm while the new one I just bought works fine. I've only had connection problems a few times with the Linksys router, not with the modem itself. Very frustrating unstable internet connection. Rest assured, this modem will not cause you any problems.3. Low Price Perhaps what I like most about this router is its affordability. The last one I bought I used here at Revain for $16. Usually the modem doesn't need to be changed every year so I was happy to buy it second hand. There's no point in buying a much more expensive modem when everything you want is at home. If you're short on space, you might want to consider investing in one of those 2-in-1 modems that come with the included router. Although they are more expensive. Cons-1. Size This modem is by no means large, but I've seen smaller Comcast modems in the past. It's really not that much. In conclusion, I would recommend this modem. It's cheap, reliable, and gets the job done. If you're looking for a replacement for your home, this model is a pretty good choice.
