Our dining chairs come with hard plastic glides on the legs which protect well from scratches and allow the chairs to slide easily but will make a nasty sound if someone moves the chairs. Installing these legs has greatly reduced the noise generated when moving the chairs. They are barely visible when looking at the chairs and were easy to assemble. Be sure to measure your chair legs! In my case, my chairs have different front and back sizes, so I bought two different sets and used the larger ones in the front and the smaller ones in the back. They seem to hold up better than homemade felt pads that you cut yourself, since the connection between the pad and the plastic cap is probably cleaner than the connection to a wooden chair leg.
