Review on 💽 Seagate IronWolf ST12000VN0008 12 TB Internal Hard Drive - SATA 600, 7200RPM - High Performance with 256 MB Buffer by Aaron Guy

DOAI has ordered the 4T version of the IronWolf. He arrived today and gave me a big surprise. My Linux server recognized it right after connecting. The new 16P hard disk was shown! 16r! That's 16000 tons! The short SMART test went quickly, with one small bug: Seek_Error_Rate increased, kept increasing every time I ran smartctl. Tried several partitioning tools. No one had trouble recognizing the drive. And none of them could create partitions. I think they don't support 16P hard drive yet. As an honest person I have decided to return this 16P monster as I just paid for a 4T hard drive. I am a longtime WD RED customer. But I still want to try. I have requested a replacement. As I write this review, Revain has processed the request and the replacement order is already showing up in my account. One star is reserved for Revain's prompt service. I hope the replacement will be a true 4T hard drive. UPDATE: Received a replacement. Now it's a 4T drive. Internet search, Seagate Seek_Error_Rate counts searches. This value is 48 bits. The first 16 bits are for errors and the remaining 32 bits for the seek counter. If the number is not large, it simply means that there are no search errors. Increase the stars to 3.
