Nice price, good quality.

Has pros: Seems OK. Bought 4 from NAS. Everything is working. On speed rests against speed of a local area network. Cons below: I do not know with whom to compare, but noisy. But again, in a noisy corridor.

OUTSTANDING RELIABLE ACTUATORS FROM A GREAT COMPANY!

A few months ago I added three 12TB ST12000VN0008 drives to my Synology NAS and couldn't be happier. excellent with good protection (which is not always the case). Drives honestly couldn't have done better. They just keep humming into my NAS, delivering persistent data across my network. In fact, they work so well I'm considering ordering more from the same company. I believe in supporting companies that do their best and this company is one of those that do. My experience with both hard drives

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • repair

Seagate used to be the industry leader, there are MANY more options now, but for NAS use these drives are hard to beat. It was between that and WD. Personally, I've had more problems with WD products than Seagate, although today's products can't really be judged from the past as technology is constantly changing and improving. Thinking back to the time I paid $1,000 for my first 1GB drive, paying just over $100 for a 4TB drive seems incredible. The first thing I did when installing them was…

MUCH louder than the WD Red drives I've replaced :-/

I've been very happy with my WD Red drives, but WD started sneaking up on the SMR Red drives, not on the CMR. The ONLY reason I bought them was because of the WD drives. Decision to use SMR, forcing you to buy "WD Red Plus" to get CMR. These Seagate IronWolf 10TB NAS drives are CMR. The complaint is that they're noticeably louder than the WD Red they replaced. I was about to give up and get WD Red Plus with CMR. But for me it's too late. I'll take care of that, just be aware that they're louder

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Quiet, cool, reliable discs at a great price

The discs came from Revain in perfect packaging. See photo. Each in its own little box with shock absorbing legs. Then in a large box with bubble wrap. I bought 4 of these drives and installed them in a RAID 5 configuration in an enclosure. Disks passed 3 certificates in SoftRAID with no errors. I have this case next to my computer and I can barely hear them working. They don't seem to warm up at all and I put a lot of stress on them. These drives in this configuration with a Thunderbolt 3…

DOA I ordered the IronWolf 4T version. That .

DOAI has ordered the 4T version of the IronWolf. He arrived today and gave me a big surprise. My Linux server recognized it right after connecting. The new 16P hard disk was shown! 16r! That's 16000 tons! The short SMART test went quickly, with one small bug: Seek_Error_Rate increased, kept increasing every time I ran smartctl. Tried several partitioning tools. No one had trouble recognizing the drive. And none of them could create partitions. I think they don't support 16P hard drive yet. As…

Not "new " as promised

Ordered a 10TB Ironwolf NAS for our media storage at home. From the moment I received the package I was skeptical that I was being sold a new hard drive and not a refurbished hard drive. The packaging was a plain brown box with a small sticker that said the drive's name and model. The foam pads were fine, but the mylar bag was only taped to the top. However, I installed it. The drive immediately started making loud noises without writing or reading any data. I went back and asked for a…

After a long search I decided again for the Seagate

Pros: - No issues testing, installing, or transferring data - Works well with an Adaptec Enterprise RAID card - Works well on drives 4TB and larger - Seagate hard drives have stood the test of time over the years proven to be durable (first hand) (Used Seagate for years, 25+ drives from 40GB to 3TB before this purchase) Cons: - Had to use 4TB or larger drives to get rotational vibration sensors (not available on Ironwolf drives lower capacity), although I have used Seagate drives almost…
