💽 Seagate IronWolf ST12000VN0008 12 TB Internal Hard Drive - SATA 600, 7200RPM - High Performance with 256 MB Buffer Review

The main thing is reliability, and it's too early to judge about it, but I hope it will be better than the previous version ST12022VN0007. I will ate the review over time.

Has pros: Seems OK. Bought 4 from NAS. Everything is working. On speed rests against speed of a local area network. Cons below: I do not know with whom to compare, but noisy. But again, in a noisy corridor.

A few months ago I added three 12TB ST12000VN0008 drives to my Synology NAS and couldn't be happier. excellent with good protection (which is not always the case). Drives honestly couldn't have done better. They just keep humming into my NAS, delivering persistent data across my network. I've been very happy with my WD Red drives, but WD started sneaking up on the SMR Red drives, not on the CMR. The ONLY reason I bought them was because of the WD drives. Decision to use SMR, forcing you to buy "WD Red Plus" to get CMR. These Seagate IronWolf 10TB NAS drives are CMR. The complaint is that they're noticeably louder than the WD Red they replaced. The discs came from Revain in perfect packaging. See photo. Each in its own little box with shock absorbing legs. Then in a large box with bubble wrap. I bought 4 of these drives and installed them in a RAID 5 configuration in an enclosure. Disks passed 3 certificates in SoftRAID with no errors.
