Review on MEE audio Air-Fi Metro2 AF72 Bluetooth Noise-Isolating In-Ear Stereo Headset - Wirelessly Connected for Optimum Sound Experience by Melissa Brewer

EDIT January 2016: I contacted MEE Audio about connectivity issues and offered a replacement. I was surprised to hear from them as I had never approached them. I think it says companies read reviews. After quite a lengthy exchange of emails going back and forth, I was finally sent a product that was delivered quickly. Unfortunately, this replacement was also plagued by the same Bluetooth performance/range and general connectivity issues mentioned earlier. Initially I thought the first unit was just defective, but since the replacement also had the same issues, I've come to the conclusion that overall this model has some serious flaws and/or the MEE audio quality just isn't what I was looking for . The only other option I had was to go through the return process through Revain, where the customer service is exemplary. MEE Audio has lost a loyal customer and I will think twice in the future even considering their products. I hope my experience helps others decide whether or not to take the risk of buying these headphones. I downgraded my rating from 4 to 1 star. Please see my initial review below: ________________________________ I recently purchased these for around $40 hoping for an improved experience over my existing pair of SoundPeats QY7 and ended up with mixed results. PROS: I like the overall design and the size of the earbuds, which aren't too big. In addition, the 3 button remote works mostly on Android devices including phone calls and music/volume control. It was a bit difficult to find the earbuds initially as I tried different sizes of earbuds and finally settled on the medium earbuds. In general, the sound is good at high and medium frequencies. Pairing multiple devices worked well enough. I also tested the multi-connection feature by connecting my phone and tablet at the same time and it worked well. I like the case that comes with it, about 4-5 hours of battery life and 2 hours of charging. Also, I know that MEE's customer service and return policy is really good in case something goes wrong. CONS: As for the play/pause button when the phone's screen is off, I've noticed that it tends not to work, which is a bit odd. Sometimes it works as it should, other times it does nothing or starts skipping music. I've never had a pair of BT headphones/earphones that do this and they seem to be faulty. The included ear pads are meant to help stabilize the headphones, but I'm not sure that really helps much. The headphones are thin and not rigid like my SoundPeats for example. The overall fit is not as good as my SoundPeats. Sonically, the mids/trebles are good, but the basses/lows are disappointing as I've had other in-ear/MEE headphones and expected more bass from them. My SoundPeats have richer bass and are half the price. This is a real bummer for me as I enjoy making music sometimes, especially at the gym. Also, I've noticed that the BT's power and range isn't too great, as I've noticed music bouncing and stuttering from about 15ft or 15ft away. So. My SoundPeats and a pair of Sony BT headphones have an extended range of about 25-30 feet as I can easily walk around the living room and kitchen without missing a beat. Air-FI Metro2: not so easy. Overall, the BT signal isn't as strong or reliable as I'm used to. Overall, I cannot recommend these over the $20 SoundPeats QY7 as they were $40 at the time of purchase. I wish I liked these BT headphones more but unfortunately in the end these Air-FI Metro2 don't quite live up to my expectations from MEE based on past experience. If they were closer to $20 then I wouldn't be too upset about it. At $40 on sale they are overpriced and not worth it.
