Problematic Crank: Transmission Components

I have had several variants of the S300's older brother, the Ommium. I've never encountered any issues with this crank other than the notoriously unreliable GXP BB bottom bracket it comes with. Since production has stopped, the Omnium S300 is a (pretty) tough replacement until a newer replacement model comes along. Other than that, the grip itself is fine, but the sprocket studs that this model comes equipped with are incredibly insane. I have NEVER spent more than an hour unscrewing even the toughest sprocket bolts. What looks like plain old blue Loctite loosens the bolt just enough to rotate the entire interface between the sprocket holes and the crank spider. Even with the right tools and strong determination, reverse threads cannot be stabilized. I gave up and took it to my bike shop who ended up complaining about the same thing. You will drill out ALL 4 remaining screws. This is incredibly tedious for any bike owner or shop. It takes a lot of time and the cost is not worth the effort. I don't know why they couldn't just include the same screws from Omnium that use hex keys for both ends and get a reasonable price for the $130 already in place. Or, even better, just put in hex bolts as compensation for all previous buyers of this crank and save all future owners, that is, if they even get my recommendation. /forums indicates that this is a KNOWN issue. This is difficult to manage and extremely inconvenient if you ever plan to change the ratio of your teeth or the aesthetics. In fact, I would actually prefer to have the connecting rod REMOVED just to avoid adhesion. Being such a die-hard Omnium fan and having made countless recommendations despite known caret issues, I was expecting a more understanding perspective. 1 star for crank quality.
