This set is probably the nicest thing I've ever bought from Revain. The packaging is a nice little box that somehow manages to fit the whole kit, protective gloves and everything inside. I know very little about planing - I bought this rather to exercise my tired hands after eight hours a day on the computer - but it seems even an experienced planer would like this set. The gloves meet the European standard for protective gloves, EN 388, at the highest level of 5. This is great for older people like me who lack the manual dexterity of twenty years ago! Each blade is carefully sculpted and sharpened and attached to simple but beautiful wooden handles. My only complaint - and this is MY problem, not the Hutsuls - is that the hook's blade appears to be right-handed and I'm left-handed, so I don't seem to be able to use it properly. (I could try contacting the company to request a left-handed version.) All in all just beautiful. It was a pleasure to unbox and I've been using it for the past three evenings to cut out basic balls and, as I said, relieve cramps from all day computer typing. PS Do not leave the green polish in bright sunlight. . I melted mine a lot (sigh). It's quite functional, but not the pretty rectangle it used to be ;-) Thanks Hutsul!
