If you are making a picture frame, you are probably using material that is 3/4 inch thick or less. At this thickness, the clamps will bounce off the workpiece when tightened. Attempting to center the workpiece on the clamps also fails and is difficult to accomplish. To get them to work I put a piece of plywood over 4 brackets and pressed down; However, you lose visibility and cannot fix if the seams are misaligned. Another design flaw that affects every blank, not just the picture frame, is that there is a small notch where the 90 degree angle is formed. I guess it's a feature, but it only allows your joint to move. Without them, the joints would be perfectly aligned. I can get the clamp to work, but it could be a lot better.
